The Sittwe Township court questioned the plaintiff in the case of thirteen Shinletwa villagers from Paletwa Township, who have been charged under section 17 (1) and (2) of the Unlawful Association Law, on 23 August, according to the lawyer for the case.
Major Naing Aung Phyo from No. 375 Regiment based in Kyauktaw filed the complaint, but Captain Moe Kyaw Lwin from No. 378 Light Infantry Regiment in Mrauk-U Township appeared in court on behalf of the plaintiff, said lawyer U Tun Hla.
“The plaintiff could not appear in court. So, captain Moe Kyaw Lwin came and gave a statement about the plaintiff’s grievance,” U Tun Hla said.
Eleven people from Shinletwa village in Paletwa Township and two homeowners from Kyauktaw town have been accused for involvement with the AA and providing food for the AA members.
The case has ten prosecution witnesses and six of them have been questioned, the lawyer said.
The next court hearing has been scheduled on 4 September.
Out of a total of 23 people, 21 people are from Shinletwa village and the homeowners were arrested in May. Ten villagers were released and the remaining 13 people have been facing trial.
