Muslim Man Shot Dead in Ye

U Win Nyunt (B) Rasin, a Muslim resident of No. 13, Yan Myo Aung Ward, Extension Thalawady (1) Road, Mon State, Ye Township, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on January 24, according to a report from  the township police station.

Initially reports said Win Nyunt was a former NLD member, but this was not accurate information.

Ye Township Police Chief Thein Zaw said, " He was not a member of the NLD. He was a civilian repairing a motorcycle.” Win Nyunt was shot dead while repairing a motorcycle at a shop in his home and died on the way to hospital.

U Win Nyunt, 45, was a member of the Yan Myo Aung Ward Water Supply and Funeral Aid Association.

Another shooting occurred on January 2, when unidentified gunmen shot and killed U Ye Win, the head of a household in Khawza Chaung Wa village, south of Ye Township.
