AA says they want to release two critically wounded POWs immediately

Naung Naung — Arakan Army (AA) spokesman Khaing Thu Kha confirmed to Mizzima that they would like to immediately release two critically wounded POWs who were captured in clashes near Mont Than Pyin village, Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State in recent days.

AA spokesman Khaing Thu Kha said, “These two POWs got serious and critical wounds in the battle. We would like to release them immediately on humanitarian grounds since they need emergency surgery.”

AA issued press statement which says they captured 36 officers and other ranks including officiating commander Maj. Thet Naing Oo of Light Infantry Battalion (7) under command of Light Infantry Division (77) during battles fought on March 10 and 11 near Mont Than Pyin village, Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State.

AA spokesman Khaing Thu Kha said that Tatmadaw (government military) or NLD government or any mediator CSO may contact the phone number +86-173 004 16351 to release the two critically wounded POWs and for negotiating a rendezvous place to pick up them.

AA spokesman Khaing Thu Kha added that he did not know the identities of these two POWs who were to be released, age and details of their wounds.
