Youths Arrested After Attending Training in Kayah State

Burma Army arrested over 70 youths after they attended a capacity building training offered by an organization supported by Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP).

“Burma army accused these youths of attending military training,” said a local man who didn’t want his name used.

A family member of one of the youths confirmed they were arrested in Hpruso Township on April 30. They are being detained at the prison in Loikaw.

Khu Daniel, KNPP secretary 2, said the ethnic armed organization supported the organization that provided the training but wouldn’t elaborate more about it.

In late April, the junta’s armed forces arrested two youths in the town of Hpruso, locals said.

Police and soldiers are searching for protest leaders in the township of the same name.
