Suspects detainee Carpenter Killed in Kyauk Taw

One of the suspects who were detained by Tatmadaw (Myanmar Army) was reportedly killed yesterday, the police clerk from Kyauk Taw Police Station has confirmed.

The police clerk said that the remaining body of the late carpenter was at Kyauk Taw Township’s Hospital mortuary.

According to Pauk Taw Byin villagers, the 20 - year- old victim was from Pauk Taw Byint village of Mrauk U township and arrested for the suspected connection with AA by Tatmadaw while he was working as a carpenter at Visali Buddha Image .

The village’s administrator of Visali confirmed that Maung Nay Myo Tun (20) was from Pauk Taw Byint village of Mrauk U township, working as a carpenter at (Visali) Waitharli Buddha Image when he was arrested along with two other carpenters by Tatmadaw on June 20.

Lu Htu Zaw Win, a community worker from Kyauk Taw said, “ The carpenter has died and now in Kyauk Taw hospital’s mortuary. He is a detainee. When the doctor checked it him, there is some injure in his head. I think, he was over-tortured.”

Asking about the killing of the arrested carpenter, military spokesman, Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun, said, “ He has died now. As his health condition was getting worse, and sent him to the hospital, he died there. We have arrested some people on June 20 and we have released the news.”

Although, Narinjara News attempted for detail news, the official comment from the hospital not known yet.

 It was learned that some carpenters who were working at (Visali) Waitharli Buddha Image of Waitherli village and some villagers were arrested by Tatmadaw for the suspected association of AA on June 20, the villagers said.
