Residents Flee Homes in Launglon Amid Aggressive Junta Military Operations

As coup junta troops advance towards Minyat Village in Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region, thousands of people, including residents of Minyat and nearby villages, are fleeing their homes.

Since July 13, junta troops have marched in two separate columns toward Minyat, prompting residents of villages along their routes to flee.

Currently, thousands of residents from villages including Minyat, Theapon, Tharyarkone, Thabyar, Pannelei, and Innzauk are evacuating to safety.

People who fled to Launglon Town and other safe zones due to fears of aggression and brutality of the junta troops are also in urgent need of humanitarian aid.

Displaced locals reported that junta troops incurred casualties in recent clashes near Thabyar village, and they are now advancing once more with reinforcements.

During the skirmishes on July 10, three junta troops were killed by the local People's Defense Force (PDF).

At the height of the fighting, 14-year-old Ma Thet Htar San (also known as Waing Waing Lay), who unintentionally strayed from a bomb shelter, was fatally shot by junta troops.

According to a June 12 report by FE5 Tanintharyi, a local research organization, the number of people displaced by clashes in Tanintharyi Region, where fighting has once again intensified, has risen to nearly 60000.
