He made this remarks during the opening ceremony of the Political Party Founding Committee (Mon State) office held in the Mon State’s capital Mawlamyine yesterday (March 25) morning.

“If I were to give a simple definition of politics, politics is a service. Actually, politics is not an industry. It’s not an industry that produces rice and machines. But, the main aim of our politics is to provide service to the public and solve the local people’s difficulties, fulfill their needs, and protect them,” said U Ko Ko Gyi.

According to him, the aim of the political party is to serve the ethnic people from ethnic areas in obtaining their rights, equality, and protection.

“If you ask me whether we can do this without establishing a party, we have carried it out for 30 years without establishing a party. But, the difference is that a legal political party gets the official right to state its opinions, suggestions, and beliefs. If the public trusts us and gives us the mandate to act on their behalf, we will personally get the opportunity to turn our good-wills and concepts into policies and laws,” U Ko Ko Gyi continued.

He added that the political party is established for the reason that the future generation should not be struggled, and the party wants to strive towards a peaceful political system that enables cooperation between different opinions.

Officials from the Union Solidarity and Development Party and the Mon National Party attended the opening ceremony of the Political Party Founding Committee (Mon State)’s office.
