Interim Govt Promises Cooperation With Karenni State Consultative Council

National Unity Government pledged to cooperate with the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC) and other stakeholders to establish a federal democratic union for freedom, justice, equality and peace.

Mahn Win Khine Than, the union chief minister for the interim government established by National League for Democracy lawmakers ousted during the February 1 coup, sent a signed commitment letter to KSCC, which posted it on Facebook.

KSCC spokesperson said: “We will do our best to attain the rights of self-determination” while planning a federal union with NUG and National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC).

In an April 18 statement, KSCC vowed to work with NUCC, NUG and Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, which formed both organizations.

KSCC was established in early April by lawmakers who won seats in the last election, political parties, armed organizations, academics and youth and women organizations.
