Food shortages imminent in Mindat township

According to local relief officials, the military has blocked the route of food and medicine to Mindat township in Chin State, only 200 bags of rice are left and a food shortage is imminent.

A local refugee relief official told Mizzima that around 15,000 people in the area will soon be short of food as the Military checks and seizes trucks carrying food and medicine on the Pauk-Pakokku route, the main route to deliver food to Mindat.

A CDF-MINDAT spokesperson told Mizzima that at present, fighting in Mindat township has been quiet since July 30, but some people have been arrested by the Military in recent days.
