The Southeast Command has geared up to crack down on any protest in Mon state, Burma by tightening security. Policemen are patrolling Moulmein Township .
Mon State authorities stepped up security measures in Moulmein town two days ago, according to a resident. Most of the security forces deployed are policemen in uniform.
"The security personnel are doing the rounds of the town in vehicles," the resident added.
Given the demonstrations in Rangoon and other towns, wholesalers in Myaing Yadana Market in Moulmein did display dissatisfaction during protests but finally closed their shops as of 2 p.m. yesterday.
"The owners of gold shops and other shops closed their outlets by themselves to witness the protests as onlookers". Some shops did not close but observed the events unfolding from their shops.
Most of residents are also watching what is happening in the town.
