Livestock truck shot and two people killed on Asian Highway

On the morning of April 6, a livestock truck was shot in front of a quarry site beyond Kaw Nwe Bridge on Karen State's Kawkareik - Myawaddy Asian Highway, killing the driver and another man.

When a cattle transport vehicle was shot down, two persons were killed, including the driver, according to rescue workers.

On the way from Kawkareik to Myawaddy, an unidentified gunmen opened fire on a six-wheeled truck. After being shot in the head, the driver died, and the truck overturned in a creek, killing some animals.

In recent days, fighting has escalated between the two sides on the Kawkareik-Myawaddy Asian Highway and the Myawaddy-Wallay road, with some vehicles on the Asian Highway being set on fire and four civilians killed.

Due to the substantial military presence in the Dooplaya District controlled by Brigade 6, the KNU asked for a halt to the usage of the Kawkareik-Myawaddy Asian Highway and the Myawaddy-Wal Lay road on March 26.
