The Rakhine State Hluttaw has approved MP U Win Myint from Toungup Constituency (1) as the new Minister of Municipal Affairs without any objection on March 12. The Rakhine State government has nominated MP U Win Myint for the vacant minister position to State Hluttaw.

State Hluttaw MP U Aung Kyaw Htwee, who represents Pauktaw Township for the Arakan National Party (ANP), said U Win Myint is a good man but his competence needs to be observed.

“He is a good man, but we need to monitor his competency. I see that he works actively in the hluttaw for his town,” U Aung Kyaw Htwee told the Narinjara News.

The former Rakhine State Municipal Affairs Minister U Min Aung was a State Hluttaw MP who represents Toungup Constituency (2) for the National League for Democracy (NLD). He was sacked by the President after the Rakhine State MPs accused him of failing to perform his duties properly and voted in the hluttaw for his impeachment.

After this incident, Toungup Township’s State Hluttaw MP U Win Myint was appointed as the Municipal Affairs Minister on March 12.

The new Municipal Affairs Minister U Win Myint is a native of Ma-Ei town under Toungup Township. He was born on December 7, 1973 and has received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. His wife is Daw Soe Nan Mu and they have two daughters. He currently lives in Ma-Ei.
