Narinjara News has learned that the police chief of Buthidaung Township Police Station in Arakan State was shot dead by one of his men at 8am on 3 March.

The chief of police for all of the Buthidaung Township area said: “Yes, it happened this morning. While the officer was drinking tea together with officers from other areas he was killed by just one close-range shot.”

He identified the the dead officer as deputy police major Tin Hla and the police officer who killed him as Kyaw Tun Naing.

He said: “Kyaw Tun Naing was not happy when he was reprimanded by the station police chief and shot him. The bullet passed from the lower part of his left arm to under the right arm and the officer died on the spot.”

Kyaw Tun Naing was wrestled to the ground and arrested by the deputy chief of Buthidaung Township Police Station.
