Myanmar Army Bombed 4 Rakhine towns, AA Report Says

Khaing Lu Hla (Roma Mray) — The Arakan Army announced that the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes on four towns in Rakhine State—Gwa, Kyintali, Lay Taung, and Kyaukphyu—before targeting Kyauktaw on June 17, 2026.

Reported attacks between June 14 and 15 caused civilian casualties, destroyed a school, and damaged infrastructure in Gwa Township and Kyintali Town.

Airstrike on Kyauk Chun Village Monastery and School

The Arakan Army (AA) released a statement reporting a military airstrike on June 14, 2026, at approximately 12:00 AM. Junta forces targeted a local monastery and school in Kyauk Chun Village, located within No. (11) Circuit, Gwa Township. The bombardment injured one civilian and caused extensive damage to the school building and several nearby homes. Additionally, the strike killed one cow and injured another.

Fatal Attack on Ramma Kyun Village

A subsequent military attack targeted Ramma Kyun Village in Kyintali Town, Gwa Township, on June 15, 2026, at around 7:15 PM. The assault killed two civilians on the spot and injured four others. Local investigations identified the deceased as 50-year-old U Wai Lin and 38-year-old Daw Thuza Moe, both residents of Ramma Kyun. The attack also destroyed multiple residential properties in the area.

Drone Attack in Laytaung Town (Ramree Township)

On June 4, 2026, at approximately 3:20 PM, Myanmar military forces attacked an oil drilling site in the eastern forest area of Laytaung in Ramree Township, Rakhine State. The strike resulted in the deaths of two cows.

Airstrikes in Kyaukphyu Township

On June 6, 2026, at around 11:30 PM, Myanmar military forces bombed Kaladwin and Bhaya villages in Kyaukphyu Township using a Y-12 aircraft. The bombardment destroyed a Buddhist monastery, damaged several residential homes, and killed three cows.

River Attack Injures Travelers

Myanmar military forces opened fire on civilian travelers and arrested 14 local merchants and workers in two separate incidents in Kyaukphyu Township on June 7.

Military personnel stationed on the Thanzit River fired machine guns at a boat carrying local travelers. The unprovoked attack resulted in severe injuries to several passengers.

Later that afternoon at approximately 5:00 PM, a military warship intercepted a commercial motorboat traveling from Minbya to Ramree. Myanmar junta forces detained all 14 merchants and workers on board without cause. The vessel was returning from a supply trip when it was stopped.
