War refugees unable to return home due to ongoing battles in Namtu

Fighting in the territories of KIA Battalion 4, around Sinli Kaungra Village in Namtu Township has been going on since the afternoon of October 5.

“The battle continues. People fleeing the war cannot return to their villages. On the way back to the villages, only the soldiers took security, so it was difficult to even send food to the villagers who fled the war”, a resident from Namtu said.

From September 24 until October 5, there was continuous fighting in Namtu Township hence about 300 families from Sinli Kaungra, Manjat and Konkara Villages fled the war and were still unable to return to their homes.

Accommodation and food are difficult for those fleeing the war. The Military Council Army keeps launching an offensive in KIA controlled areas.

On the other hand, the KIA has been responding by attacking some Military Council camps, and fighting has been going on for more than 10 days in the Mantong and Namtu regions.

In addition, houses were damaged due to the explosion of artillery shells fired by the Military Council Troops.
