Two People Killed and Two others Injured in the shooting at Ministry of Immigration and Population Office

On August 3rd at 12:00 in the afternoon, two people were killed and two others were injured during a gun attack led by the Ye Blue group.

The shooting took place at the  Ministry of Immigration and Population office in Ye Township.  

Deputy Commander of the Ministry of Immigration and Population, U Aung Ko Htet and Deputy Commander, U Thein Htike both died from 2 gunshot wounds.  

In addition Deputy Commander, Ko Salu was shot twice in the arm and back, and Ko Bawlone from the Myat Aman Photocopy Shop received injuries to the face and right clavicle.

A resident said, “The Ministry of Immigration and Population office was the site of a fatal shooting. The Deputy Ministry of Immigration and Population Commander and a deputy commander died.  Another  deputy  commander and a civilian were also shot, but survived and have been admitted to the Mawlamyine Hospital.”

The police blocked the roadway and conducted an investigation after the shooting.

This is not the first attack by the Ye Blue group. In the last week of July, members of the group threw a bomb at the office of  the Ministry of Immigration and Population and shoots were also fired at the Ye Township police station.  No one was injured in either of these incidents.
