Tanintharyi seeing the expansion of battlefield

The fighting that has been going on since December 31 in Taninthari Township has spread to almost the entire region, the information official of Allied Forces told Than Lwin Times.

The junta forces launched a massive offensive into ten villages, including Bawdikan, Banlaw, Zawei, 6th mile village and clashed with resistance forces till January 3.

12 junta soldiers and one PDF comrade were killed in the clashes that broke out between December 31 and January 1, according to the source of Allied Forces.

However, the details of the casualties on both sides during the fighting on January 2 and 3 remain unknown.

During the fighting, the military council cut off some internet access and phone lines, with blocking some roads.

The Allied Forces warned the people to follow the guidelines because more intense fighting may occur if the junta forces launched the offensive again.

For the time being, more than 2,000 residents from at least ten villages including Banlaw, Bawdikan, Zawei, 6th mile have been forced to flee the conflict in Tanintharyi.
