Security outpost on Myanmar - Bangladesh border attacked

A rocket attack originating from the hills on the Bangladesh side of the border hit a security outpost at No. 40 border milepost between Myanmar and Bangladesh, during the attack a Myanmar soldier was killed, an officer from the security outpost, who asked not to be named, told the DMG.

An unknown group opened fire and both sides exchanged fire from about 6p.m. on 6 July to about 7a.m. on 7 July, a soldier from a mobile team of No.564 Light Infantry Regiment was killed during the barrage of gun fire, the officer said.

A local resident from Way Lar Taung village said that the number of casualties from the security force is more than one person but the DMG could not confirm it.

In January, a group from Bangladesh fired heavy weapons and gunfire at a mountain range east of No. 41 security outpost near Way Lar Taung village in Maungdaw Township, injuring three members of the security force.
