The police arrested a third/final year history major student in Pauktaw yesterday and brought him to Sittwe by speedboat ferry this morning.

Khine Bo Bo, also known as Ko Khine Thaw, a 23-year-old university student, was taken to Sittwe by Shwe Pyi Tan Express at around 8 am.

“When we asked Pauktaw Township police chief, he told us that the state police chief asked him to detain him (Khine Bo Bo) briefly. They also don’t know why he has been arrested,” U Tun Thar Aung, father of Khine Bo Bo, said to Narinjara News.

A police officer from the junction near the police station took Khine Bo Bo to Pauktaw Police Station for questioning at around 5 pm yesterday and Khine Bo Bo’s home is located near Pauktaw Police Station.

“We want the truth on this case. It’s early for us to talk in details since we don’t know in details about why he has been arrested,” said U Tun Thar Aung.

When Narinjara News contacted Pauktaw Police Station, Inspector Than Htay said: “Yes, it’s true. He is being investigated because there is a need to question him. At the moment, I can’t say why he’s being investigated. He’s still under investigation. That’s all I can say.”

Narinjara News has learned that his arrest was related to the murder of military corporal Win Htike, also known as Phoe Lone and Ba Oo, from the Military Affairs Security Unit, who was shot to death in Sittwe on September 25.

The police have also arrested Ko Khine Chay, also known as Aung Zaw Linn, and Ko May Yu Tun in Sittwe on October 9 and 10.

The police are investigating at least eight suspects in connection with the military corporal’s murder.
