More than 70 resigned village administrators were summoned by the Ponnagyun Township Administration Office Rakhine, but none of them went because of lack of trust

The Ponnagyun Township Administration Office in Rakhine state summoned more than 70 village administrators who had submitted their resignations, but none of them went there due to lack of trust, the resigned administrative officials said.

A resigned administrator said they did not go to the Township Administration Office despite being contacted by phone on December 4th.

“We have already submitted our resignation letters. because we don’t want to have anything to do with them. We don’t trust them at all. Even if they keep calling us it will make no difference and no use. ” he said.

When Narinjara contacted another village administrator who resigned, he said that the meeting held at the Township Administration Office that day was attended by the administrators from only our wards in Ponnagyun, and none of the resigned administrative officials including him attended.

“In the meeting, the administrators of the four wards were asked about their needs and just recorded them. As for the rest, I heard that nothing was discussed extensively”, he said.

The village administrators said that they could not do anything beneficial for the local civilian population, but felt that they were caught up in the conflict between the Military Council and the Arakan Army (AA), hence they did not want to continue their duties and submitted their resignations.

Furthermore, the resigned village administrators have already sent the office stamps they used and other documents back to the Township Administration Office through close people.

Regarding this matter, Narinjara contacted the Ponnagyun Township Administration Office and asked for their opinion but was not able to get in touch.

Out of 96 village tracts in Ponnagyun, the administrators of more than 70 have submitted their resignations since November 15.
