Mandalay sees increase in armed robbery

Residents in Mandalay city, the former ancient capital, are concerned by gang robberies which have increased in recent days.

A group of 11 men on 6 motorbikes, wielding swords, robbed food and medical supplies from needy patients near the Chinese consulate in Mandalay on 27 July.

Although no one was killed due to the help of nearby people, a backpack with a laptop and a mobile phone was stolen.
