Two people were allegedly killed when the army opened fire on the Mya Taung protest march to overthrow the dictatorship in Mandalay.

At least three were injured and two killed after plainclothes men opened fire on the protest in the eastern part of the Mahamuni Pagoda according to current information.

"Holding a flag, the girl next to me fell. The others were also hit. The exact number of dead and arrested is unknown," said one protester.

Protests against the overthrow of the military council are taking place daily despite security forces' tight patrols in Mandalay.
