Junta Seals off NUG Labor Minister Nai Suwanna's Residence

The house of Nai Suwanna (aka) Nai Tun Phay, Minister of Labor in the National Unity Government (NUG), located in Hpa-an Township, Karen State, Htone Aine Village was sealed off by the military council.

According to local residents, the house of Nai Suwanna, Minister of Labor in the National Unity Government (NUG), located in Ward No. 7 of Htone Aine Village, was sealed off by a team from the joint military council on the evening of June 13th.

The house of Nai Suwanna was confiscated and sealed off by the military junta due to alleged links to terrorist organizations, referring to NUG and other opposition organizations.

Nai Suwanna contested in Kyarinnseikkyi Township, Karen State on behalf of the Mon National Democratic Party in the 1990 elections, and was a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Mon Unity Party in the 2015 elections.

After the military coup, Nai Suwanna resigned from the Mon Unity Party due to his disagreements within the party, which decided to cooperate the SAC.  In March 2021, he left his house and was appointed as the Minister of Labor in the National Unity Government NUG.

On June 13, the NLD announced that over the past two years since the military coup, the military junta has sealed the opposition and activists’ houses.   The junta sealed off properties of a total of 625 political opponents, including members of the National League for Democracy (NLD), across Burma.
