Maungkone Village in Tigyaing Township, Sagaing Region, was hit by two junta airstrikes on September 1, resulting in at least six civilian deaths.
An eyewitness reported that civilians were killed and injured when an explosive round dropped during an air raid near a truck loaded with oil barrels in front of the Pipi Yiyi traditional diner and Zar Chi Oo store in the village.
"An airstrike hit in front of the diner, destroying a car. There are casualties, but the details are still unknown,” he said.
According to Tigyaing Revolution (TR) social media pages, the junta's airstrike on Maungkone Village resulted in six deaths and multiple injuries.
Additionally, another bomb fell near the entrance gate of a Chinese copper mining project in the region, TR reported.
There was no active fighting when the junta carried out the bombing, and the victims have not yet been identified, locals said.
A source reported that the junta's air raid targeted a busy market in Maungkone Village.
In July, the National Unity Government (NUG) declared Maungkone Village a junta-free zone. The area is also home to China's Takaung nickel and copper mining project.
The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People's Defense Force (PDF) coalition have captured the guard outpost at Tigyaing Bridge, which spans the Ayeyarwady River and connects to Myataung Village in Tigyaing Township.
