Deadly bomb blast in Panghsang USWA-controlled territory

A car- bomb exploded killing people in Nam Lut village of Panghsang (Pangkham) township in far eastern Shan state, an area controlled by the United Wa State Army (UWSA) around 8:00 AM on November 30.

The bomb exploded near a noodle shop in front of the regional branch office of Ta’ng National Liberation Army (TNLA), which is operating in Panghsang. A resident told Shan Herald that it is not yet known, how many people died in the incident.

“The bomb exploded from an Alphard car parked in front of the noodle shop. At the time of the

incident the noodle shop was crowded, and many were killed or injured by the bomb. But I can’t say the exact number”, he said. The local source also remarked that “ We don’t know who is responsible and whether or not a political organization was involved.”

The casualties include a pregnant woman and some elderly people. Locals estimate around 30 dead and injured in total, but Shan Herald cannot independently confirm that.

The Shan Herald contacted UWSA’s spokesperson several times about the bombing, but was unable to get any response. After the bombing, local UWSA officials increased security measures and conducted strict inspections in the area.
