The Sittwe District Election Commission branch has announced on August 6 the list of candidates who will be running in the by-election in Rathedaung Township, Rakhine State.

The candidates are U Khin Than Maung from the National League for Democracy (NLD), independent candidate U Tin Maung Win, U Maung Hla Myint from the Arakan National Party (ANP), and U Thein Maung from the Arakan League for Democracy (ALD).

“We have been instructed by the Union Election Commission to make the announcement. We selected these candidates in accordance with the law, bylaw, the Hluttaw Election Law, and bylaw,” said U Khin Maung Oo, secretary of the Sittwe District Election Commission branch.

The name of the candidates, representative parties or independent candidate, logo of the representative party or independent candidate, and address are stated in the announcement.

These candidates will run in Rathedaung Constituency - 2 for the Rakhine State Hluttaw in the by-election.

The by-election will be held nationwide on November 3.
