Aung Mya Than, a correspondent for the Ayeyarwaddy Times, a news agency based on the Ayeyarwaddy (Irrawaddy) region, was released from Pathein Prison on June 30 along with 52 other detainees.

However, he was re-arrested on the night of July 10 by Military forces.
