The Arakan Army (AA) has continued its landmine clearance operations in Buthidaung Township, near the Bangladesh border.
The most recent operation took place from September 10 to 13 around the Thayet Pyin (Ywa Thit) School.
According to local residents, the team found and cleared several landmines, including a 9-inch front-facing mine and five 2-inch mines.
The mines were planted by Myanmar's junta forces during intense fighting in the township, according to APM, a local news outlet.
During the conflict, the military reportedly planted mines not only near its bases but also in camps, fields, and villages.
While the Arakan Army is clearing mines throughout the state, many still remain. The group has issued warnings and posted signs urging people to be careful when traveling in forests and gardens.
In a separate operation on September 5 and 6, AA officials said they cleared 128 landmines in Maungdaw Township. The mines were found during clearance operations along Lay-Mile Road and a road leading to a forest entrance.
