39 political parties demand a showing of unity regarding ICJ

New National Democracy Party Chairman Thein Nyunt said at a press conference of 39 political parties that unity must be shown at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Myanmar is accused of committing genocide against the Rohingya.

Gambia filed the case at the ICJ in The Hague and is a member of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Other Muslim countries also support the prosecution by Gambia.

The President’s Office issued a statement dated November 20 which says State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will lead the effort at the ICJ to defend the national interest of Myanmar.
