On 29 September, Nasaka , Burma 's border security force arrested eight monks from two monasteries - Myo Ma and Aung Bala - in the western border town of Maungdaw, soon after they had arrived in their monasteries from Akyab.
The detained had come to Maungdaw from Akyab, also known as Sittwe, to travel to Bangladesh across the Naff River in boats, to evade arrest, a monk said.
Among the monks, one was arrested from Myo Ma monastery while the other seven were arrested from Aung Bala monastery.
U Indri Ya (23) who was arrested from Myo Ma monastery, was forcibly disrobed by the authorities during the arrest and was later taken to an interrogation cell at the Nasaka headquarters, an eyewitness said.

At midnight on September 28, U Than Pi and U Than Kyi, members of the National League for Democracy in Taungup in southern Arakan, were arrested by the special police and taken to Ann Town where the Western Command is stationed.
On September 27, U Khin Maung Let and U Tin Tun Aye, who led a protest in Taungup on the same day, were also arrested by the police.
The authorities sent the two of them to Thandwe prison a day after they were arrested, a family member said.
Some family members in Arakan are anxious over their relatives' security because the authorities have been arresting leaders of the demonstrations in Arakan one after the other. However, the protests against the military government are still going on everywhere in Arakan despite the government's actions.
