Moulmein residents to buy physic nut plants

In what is essentially a way of making money by those in authority, residents in Moulmein, capital of Mon State, Burma are being forced to buy physic nuts plants.
In what is essentially a way of making money by those in authority, residents in Moulmein, capital of Mon State, Burma are being forced to buy physic nuts plants. 
 
Municipal department authorities and the Township Peace and Development Council (TPDC) officers are forcing each family to buy at least four plants. Officers are selling the plants for 500 Kyat.
 
"Yesterday, officials visited each house in Apor Larn ( Upper Road ) quarter and forced us to buy the plants. Some families were forced to buy five plants," Ko Chit who was forced said.
 
Authorities forced residents to buy it six times since the beginning of this year. The plants had to be grown in front of their house and inside.
 
Mon State Peace and Development Council is implementing the military government's physic nut project along the main road in the capital and in rural areas.
 
The authorities, however, do not care to find out whether residents grew the physic nut. They just force residents to buy it from them.
