Nearly 800 houses, buildings sealed off nationwide

At least 786 houses and buildings were arbitrarily sealed off across the country since the military coup until the end of October this year, according to the data released by the Assistant Association of Political Prisoners (AAPP) on November 24.

As of October 31, according to the report of the group that collects records of human rights violations organized by the National League for Democracy, 278 houses owned by 274 party members and 39 businesses had been confiscated, including the houses and properties of 136 members of parliament.

In addition, the NLD announced on November 8, the 2nd anniversary of the 2020 election, that the military group conducted 120 raids on the offices of the National League for Democracy Party in the regions and states.

On November 8, the military regime sealed off the house of the parents of Ko Si Thu Maung, a member of the Committee Representing for Pyisaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), which was formed within months of the military coup, in Hlaing Township, Yangon.

Additionally, on November 9, the military council sealed off the residence of opposition National Unity Government (NUG) foreign minister Daw Zin Mar Aung in North Okkalapa Township, Yangon Region.

The military council sealed and confiscated the assets of NLD members, MPs, and NLD party supporters.

Similarly, the houses of civilians are among those that have been sealed off, and the Military Council warned early this year that if they instigated a silent strike, they would be punished by having their homes sealed off.
