9 soldiers killed in ambush attack on military convoy on Ye-Thanbyuzayat road

The military convoy was attacked twice in a single day on Ye-Thanbyuzayat road in Mon State’s Thanbyuzayat Township, killing nine military personnel, Taungnyo People’s Guerrilla Force reported.

Taungnyo People’s Guerrilla Force attacked two military vehicles that came to provide security on the road between Wekhami and Ywahtharaye villages around 3 pm on November 1.

The ambush attack killed three soldiers and injured three others, the statement said.

In addition, at 7 pm on that day, a military convoy of six vehicles heading towards Ye Township from Thanbyuzayat was attacked again between Ywatharaye and Painnetaw villages, killing five soldiers and injuring two.

According to locals, when the military council convoy was ambushed, the two sides exchanged fire for about 20 minutes, and the deaths are still unclear.

After the coup, military council convoys were frequently attacked along the Ye-Thanbyuzayat  road in Mon State, and many military personnel were killed in these attacks.
