Military’s massive offensives force locals in Taungpyauk District to flee

Many locals in Tanintharyi Region’s Taungpyauk District, Thayet Chaung Township, are fleeing the area due to the military column’s massive offensives, according to the aid workers.

On the morning of Mar 30, aronud 200 members of a military column invaded into The Chaung Gyi village in Taungpyauk District, the residents from the villages  - The Chaung Gyi, Win Ka Phaw, Ah Lei Su and Kywe Chan -  fled to safety.

The junta forces are now stationed near The Chaung Gyi village and are equipped with heavy artillery, the residents said.

Locals are worried that clashes with local resistance forces could escalate due to the military offensive.

In recent days, the military council troops in Taungpyauk District have been firing indiscriminately at Win Ka Phaw village.
