Man’s body found tied to a rock in Ramaung River

A man’s body tied to a rock was discovered at a river bank in Minbya Township on Sunday morning, according to local residents.

It was found at about 9 a.m near the confluence of Kin creek and Ramaung River near U Soe Tint ward in Minbya town, the man’s legs were bound by rope and there were visible injuries on the body which was in a stage of decomposition, U Tha Sein Tun, administrator for U Soe Tint ward, told the DMG.

“The face was wedged under the rocky surface and the body was in a kneeling position. His legs were tied with rope and weighted down with rocks. His longyi is also pushed up due to rocks on the riverbank,” the ward administrator said.

Regional authorities are arranging to recover the body, but it’s unable to make a positive ID now, said police lance corporal Hlaing Thein Zaw from Minbya police station.

“When we arrived at the bank of the river, the body was drifting as the water level was rising. My seniors headed to the other side of the river to recover the body because the body drifted over to other side of the river. We cannot make any conclusive identification at the moment,” the police said.
