Nineteen Bangladeshi prisoners who were recently granted presidential amnesty have been transferred back to their home country, according to the Border Guard Police Force.
The individuals were reportedly jailed for illegally entering Myanmar.
They returned to Bangladesh after a ceremony between the Myanmar and Bangladeshi border guard forces in the Taungpyoletwea Sub-Township General Administrative Office in northern Maungdaw District on June 15.
The Myanmar delegation was led by deputy director of the Immigration Department U Than Shwe while his counterpart from Bangladesh was commander of Number 34 Border Guard Lt Col Manzur Hossain Khan.
The two delegations also discussed issues surrounding border stability, anti-narcotic activities and conflicts with armed groups.
A total of 33 Bangladeshi prisoners have been released since May under a presidential pardon that was part of the 21st Century Panglong Conference.
Five individuals were released from a prison in Tanintharyi Region and flew from Yangon to Dhaka on June 7 and nine prisoners released from Thandwe Prison flew to Dhaka via Yangon on June 12.
