At least four women were drowned in the recent wave of flood at Web Kyit village southern Arakan. Heavy downpour was reported in the western coast of Burma which snatched away the lives of the Arakanese ladies.

“The incident took place on 11 June 2016 during the flood in Taungup township of southern Arakan. They drowned while crossing the inundated areas.  The bodies of all victims were recovered next day,” said the local police.

The victims were identified as Daw Pyu Pyu Win (42 years old), Ma Cho Cho San (20), Ma Pyu Pyu Lwin (37) and Ma Ohma Kyaw Zin (19). All of them hailed from Web Kyit village under Taungup township.

Earlier in a separate incident, seven  students died in ferry-boat capsizing at Ponna Kyunt locality, which is 16 miles away from the Arakanese capital city of Sittwe.

The tragic incident took place on 1 June, when six girls and a boy died in the accident on their way to home from the high school situated at Pho Yee Bying locality under Ponna Kyunt township.
