Kyaw Thiha — Three civilians were injured on the morning of March 25 during a junta suicide drone attack on Kyat Tin village in Rakhine State’s Kyaukphyu Township—an area known as a hub for Chinese development projects.
The victims were identified as U Maung Mya Aye (39) and Ma Phyu Hla Win (17), both residents of Kyat Tin village, and Daw Malone (37), a displaced person (IDP) originally from Laek Pyin Dwein village.
The military launched two consecutive drone strikes on the village, the first at 11:25 AM and the second at 11:35 AM.
U Maung Mya Aye was hit in the right leg, Ma Phyu Hla Win sustained a wound to her right thigh, and Daw Malone was struck in her left arm. Additionally, a home belonging to local resident U Nyunt Tha was damaged in the blasts.
This is not the first time the area has been targeted. On the evening of February 17, the Myanmar military dropped seven bombs on Kyat Tin village. Later, on February 24, military forces deployed suicide drones against a site near Nga Okk village.
As the Myanmar junta faces mounting losses on the ground in the Kyaukphyu conflict, it has increasingly turned to aerial bombardments and drone strikes.
Reports indicate a rising toll of civilian casualties as the military continues to target populated villages.
