Khaing Lu Hla (Roma Mray) — An arrest is made against a rape & murder of a minor girl in Maungdaw township of Rakhine State, but another perpetrator in case of a similar crime in Pauktaw locality remains at large.
On 16 March, a three-year-old girl was raped and murdered at Aung Thu Kha village of Maungdaw locality on the western border with Bangladesh.
The girl went to play in the evening hours and did not return home on time. The villagers later found her body with the indication of rape, said a local resident.
She showed signs of rape and the authority had already apprehended there individuals. They tried to cover up the crime when the Arakan Army’s DLEPS arrived at the location. A 14-year-old boy, out of them, later confessed about his involvement in the incident.
Similarly, on 3 March, an 8-year-old girl was raped at Phadu Gyi village in Middle Phayongka Kyun of Pauktaw township.
The victim went to the plantation with her aunt but she lost her path. The perpetrator from the same village offered her help and later abused the girl.
An arrest warrant for the perpetrator was issued by the AA on 5 March and efforts are being made to trace him. A sign board in village says, "Wanted the rape suspect. If found, please notify the nearest administrative body."
