According to sources, the Arakan Army (AA) has removed (128) landmines on September 5 and 6 that were set by the junta army during the conflict in Maungdaw Township.
According to APM, the Burmese military placed the mines during the intense battle in Maungdaw Township.
AA troops found the (128) mines during mine clearing activities in specific areas of Maungdaw Township on September 5 and 6, 2025.
On September 5, in Maungdaw Township, 85 landmines placed by the army along the route leading to the entrance of the Thiktaw Village were removed. Forty-three landmines were removed along the road in the 4 mile Village of Maungdaw Township on September 6.
The Arakan Army is working tirelessly to remove mines in places where the junta army has established its base and where combat has occurred, encompassing roadways, forests, and residential neighborhoods.
According to AA sources, landmine clearance is being carried out in Maungdaw Township, where the majority of the population is Muslim, in order to make it easier for returning civilians to live and move around.
Additionally, it is distributing pamphlets to the public, installing mine awareness signs, and giving mine awareness education courses in every township.
