About 50 injured junta troops from Kyaukphyu battle brought to Sittwe by naval vessel

A naval vessel brought about 50 injured junta troops from the Kyaukphyu township, where intense combat had taken place between the Arakan Army (AA) and the terrorist forces, as seen by a local Sittwe resident.

At around 6 pm today, August 19, the injured soldiers from the naval vessel were loaded from the Sittwe Port Authority jetty.

Wounded soldiers are transported to hospitals with cars. Stretchers are being used to remove the injured soldiers from the warship. Some of them were seen walking down on crutches. There were about 45 of them,” he said.

According to local sources in Kyaukphyu, the battle is currently raging outside the town, with combat in at least three locations.

"There are intense fights in Leik Kha Maw, Min Htet Taung, Tha Byu Taung, Dhanawaddy Naval Base, and up to Simaw. Due to the torrential rain, we are unable to receive any updates. The junta may not be able to launch airstrikes if the rain is severe, but that kind of situation will be advantageous for the AA.

According to a military source in Sittwe, the AB03 ship brought roughly 20 injured soldiers aboard and reinforced approximately 470 troops on August 5.

Some officers have been airlifted to Yangon, while the injured troops are receiving treatment in the Sittwe hospital.
