Junta airstrike on TNLA-held Thibaw injures 2 civilians

At least two civilians were injured when the junta launched an airstrike on Thibaw (Hsipaw) Town in northern Shan State’s Thibaw Township, a town under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).

Around 9:30 am on August 18, a junta fighter jet bombed Thibaw Town’s West and South wards.

“The jet fighter dropped 500-pound bombs, and one landed near the Golden Guest Hotel. Two people are reported injured so far, but the number could be higher,” a woman from the town told Shan Herald.

Shan Herald is still working to confirm the exact number of casualties and the extent of the damage from the airstrike in Thibaw Town.

Thibaw has already been hit by 10 junta airstrikes in the past two months.

On August 9, a junta fighter jet bombed Thibaw’s Myanmaryat and Padaintaung wards.
