Representatives of the Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA) met with the junta's National Solidarity and Peace-making Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) in Naypyidaw on 11 July, where they discussed peace matters.

According to The Global News Light of Myanmar, the mouthpiece of the military junta, RCSS and NSPNC discussed amending the 2008 Constitution, implementing the agreement reached at the previous peace talks, holding a peace conference, regional stability, anti-narcotics, regional development and humanitarian aid.

NSPNC was led by Lt-Gen Win Bo Shein and representatives of the RCSS/SSA led by Col Sao Sai Nguen, the 1st secretary, and Col Sao Hsio Harn and Sao Hseng Harn, both members of the armed group's central executive committee.

The New Mon State Party (NMSP) also met with the regime's NSPNC in the capital on 5 and 6 July.

Although the Peace Process Steering Committee (PPST) was formed in part to negotiate with the government as a bloc on behalf of the groups who signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, the RCSS/SSA and the NMSP chose not to participate in the PPST's meeting with the NSPNC at the end of June.

PPST spokesperson Col Saw Kyaw Nyun explained, “We are going to work together for some issues and separately work for other issues. Our main objective is to move forward the peace process.”
