Two children killed, six injured by heavy shelling in Mrauk-U

Two children were killed and six other people were injured when a heavy shell landed near Thakyamaaung Temple in Alaezay Quarter on the outskirts of Mrauk-U, Rakhine State in the evening on December 2, Mrauk-U Township administrative chief Oo Maung Tha Sein told Mizzima.

Gayuna Blood Donors Association chairperson Aung Than Tun said that one of the two children who killed in the shelling was just five-months old. Three out of the six injured people were in critical condition, and receiving medical treatments in Mrauk-U Township Hospital, said Aung Than Tun.  

Recently, fighting broke out between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army in some townships including Mrauk-U and Kyauktaw Townships.
