The six leaders of the Arakan Association (Singapore) (AA-S): chairperson Ko Hein Zaw, vice chair Ma May Gyi (aka) Aye Myat Mon, information officer, Ko Thar Lay (aka) Ye Kyaw Htet, Ko Tin Hlaing Oo, Ko Tun Aye and Ko Aung Myat Kyaw (younger brother of AA’s Chief) were arrested on 9 and 10 July by the Singaporean CID, immigration and police conducted surprised checks in their homes and arrested them.

The Singaporean government deported six Myanmar people who have been detained in Singapore on suspicion of involvement with the AA, and two of them were arrested by the Myanmar government yesterday (July 11) evening after they arrived in Myanmar on the evening of 10 July.

Ko Tin Hlaing Oo and Ma May Gyi were arrested near Nay Pyi Taw, administration capital of Myanmar, according to one of the detained people.

“We have been detained in the Nay Pyi Taw police station. We were arrested near Nay Pyi Taw. No interrogations have done made so far,” Ko Tin Hlaing Oo told the DMG last night at about 7 p.m.

However, he did not divulge their destination and when they were arrested.

The DMG phoned Pol- Col Myo Thu Soe, spokesperson of police force information, but he could not be reached.

Information as to whether the other detainees were already deported to Myanmar or if they are still in detention in Singapore is not known.
