The Bamar People’s Liberation Army (BPLA) has received the support of the Three Brotherhood Alliance, a coalition of ethnic armed groups that includes the Arakan Army.
Sunday marked the one-year anniversary of the BPLA’s founding, noted a message sent to the anti-regime armed group by the Three Brotherhood Alliance on April 17.
The three members of the alliance — the AA, the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) — will support the successful implementation of the BPLA’s political and military goals, the statement said.
Among the BPLA’s political goals are overthrowing the military dictatorship and liberating the Burmese people from oppression, the Three Brotherhood Alliance stated, adding that since the coup on February 1, 2021, Burmese anti-regime resistance groups have emerged with the same goals as the ethnic armed organisations.
The fraternal trio praised the BPLA for its efforts toward their shared aims, describing the Bamar militant group as a well-disciplined and capable fighting force that has established its bona fides in a short period of time.
The BPLA was founded on April 17, 2021, by a small group of activists including the well-known poet and free speech advocate Maung Saungkha.
