Soldiers Arrest Four People in Southern Chin State

Soldiers assaulted and arrested a Christian pastor and three others this week in Matupi town, located in southern Chin State.

A youth told Khonumthung News they were arrested on March 10 at a roadblock soldier set up in the evening.

Sai Naw Ler, Sayar Byik Thang, Ah Ngun and San David are being held at a detention center in an army camp.

The afternoon of the same day, soldiers broke the padlock of a residence to search for a protester. They left the premises when they couldn’t find them.

Locals told Khonumthung News that police are investigating copy shops in Matupi suspecting vinyl banners and posters used by protesters during demonstrations against the military regime were printed at a shop in town.
