Shooting Incident in Laukkai Township Leaves Multiple Casualties

In Laukkai Township, Shan State, there were reports of an exchange of fire between the armed forces, resulting in casualties.

On June 23, around 10:00 p.m., a shooting occurred near the Jinhai Hotel in downtown Laukkai, resulting in the death of a man on the spot, according to residents.

"I am unaware of the reasons behind the shooting incident. One group and another group exchanged shots, using both short and long guns. I could hear the sound of explosions as well. One man was shot in the waist and back, and he did not survive," shared a resident living near the shooting site with the Shan Herald.

In addition, the shooting resulted in damage to cars parked in the vicinity, as well as shops and brick walls being struck by bullets.

According to the man interviewed by Shan Herald, the shooting incident took place in a crowded area, resulting in significant damage and the possibility of multiple victims.

"It happened unexpectedly in a crowded location, and everyone was alarmed. The exact number of victims is still unknown. This shooting incident was notably severe and violent," he described.

Similarly, on the night of June 23, gunshots were reported in both Lashio Township and Muse Township in Shan State.

The Shan Herald is currently conducting an investigation to determine the organizations involved and the specific locations where the shootings occurred in Muse Township and Lashio Township.

Laukkai Township, Lashio Township, and Muse Township frequently experience shootings due to the presence and movements of Military Council troops as well as various armed forces in the area.

After the military coup, political unrest gripped almost the entire country, leading to a surge in shootings, killings, and robberies.
