The Rakhine (Arakan) State Hluttaw will hold an emergency session on January 29 after two State Hluttaw MPs from Mrauk U Township, Rakhine State urged the state hluttaw to investigate the incident in Mrauk U.
"U Kyaw Win and I, who are State Hluttaw MPs from Mrauk U, have demanded the Rakhine State Hluttaw to form an investigation team to investigate Mrauk U incident. The state hluttaw has called an emergency meeting on January 29,” said U Tun Thar Sein, State Hluttaw MP from Mrauk U Township – 1.
Seven died and twelve were injured after the police fired at the protestors to disperse the crowd on the night on January 16 in Mrauk U.
The two State Hluttaw MPs from Mrauk U Township has requested the Rakhine State Hluttaw to form an investigation team to probe this incident.
He expressed hope for the state hluttaw to approve the proposal to form an investigation team.
During the emergency meeting, the state hluttaw will also approve the mini budget for April to September, he added.
