Rakhine State Gov't secretary confirms murder of former Mrauk-U Tsp Administrator

The Rakhine State government’s state administrator U Tin Maung Swe confirmed that former Mrauk U Township Administrator, who was transferred after Mrauk U riot, was killed on Tuesday (January 30) evening.

“It’s true that he is dead. He was assassinated while he was travelling on the road near Thayet Cho Village of Ponnagyun Township at 5 PM today (January 30).We have learned that three persons who were with him on the car assassinated him and fled,” U Tin Maung Swe told Narinjara News.

He said the police are searching for the murder culprits.

The deceased, Bo Bo Min Thaik, was immediately transferred to Sittwe as a deputy director after Mrauk U incident.

“I can’t say whether [the murder] is related to Mrauk U incident. I can’t say what will happen since the police are still searching for the culprits,” the state administrator added.

The police have kept Bo Bo Min Thaik's body as yet.
